Saudi Arabia slams remarks on Prophet Muhammad, welcomes BJP’s decision to suspend Nupur Sharma

Saudi Arabia has slammed Nupur Sharma’s remarks on Prophet Muhammad and welcomed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) move to suspend its spokeswoman.
Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry, led by Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al-Saud, reiterated the country’s position calling for respect of beliefs and religions.
The ministry stressed its rejection of any violation and infringement of Islamic symbols and important figures of all religions.

The General Presidency of Haramain, the general presidency for the affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, including its preachers, clerics, scholars, and employees, condemned Sharma’s statements about Prophet Muhammad.

The General Presidency of Haramain emphasised that such heinous acts disrespect all religions and those who commit such acts cannot be familiar with the authentic biography of the Chosen Prophet.
“May Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, for he was the best to have ever tread the Earth, the light of humanity, and a mercy bestowed upon the world, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him,” a statement stated.

This statement affirms the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s position condoning respect for belief and religion, spreading the message of peace among all, and not disrespecting the symbols of Islam.

During a TV debate on the ongoing Gyanvapi Masjid row, Sharma allegedly mocked Islamic religious symbols and Prophet Muhammad.
She also said that Muslims were mocking the Hindu faith by making fun of the ‘Shivling’ and calling it a fountain.
Police have registered cases against Sharma for hurting religious sentiments in Hyderabad, Pune, and Mumbai.
The BJP suspended its national spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Sunday over her controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.
The party also released a statement saying it respects all religions and strongly denounces insult of any religious personality.
